The system provides state- and county-level data for all 50 states, the
District of Columbia, and US territories and possessions. Data are available by
gender, race and ethnicity and come from a variety of national and state
sources. The system is organized into eleven main categories, including
demographics, mortality, natality, reproductive health, violence, prevention,
disease and mental health. Within each main category, there are numerous
subcategories.
Spotlight: July is UV Safety Month
Exposure to the sun's rays (UV exposure) can cause damage to the skin and eyes.1 Unprotected exposure to UV rays may result in either tanning or sunburn of the skin.2 Long-term unprotected exposure may cause changes to the appearance of skin, may affect the likelihood of developing eye health complications and may result in skin cancer. 3
Quick Health Data Online offers many different types of data related to UV Safety including information on:
- Sunburns in the past 12 months,
- Melanoma morbidity counts for single years and multi-year averages, and
- Melanoma morbidity rates for single years and multi-year averages.
Data on the system are provided for men and women with race and ethnicity
details to enable comparisons between different population groups. Data can be
used to generate tables such as these, which presents the age-adjusted
rate of melanoma per 100,000 population
.
What's New, May 2010
The 2010 Edition of the Women's Health and Mortality Chartbook is now available. The Chartbook presents 27 health indicators, which highlight some of the key issues related to women's health that are being measured regularly at the state level. The Chartbook is a statistical resource on women's health in each of the states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands and was developed to provide readers with an easy-to-use collection of current state data on critical issues of relevance to women.
What's New, October 2009
The 2009 Edition of the Health Disparities Profiles is now available. The Profiles present 21 health indicators that are being measured regularly at the state level and which highlight some of of the key areas related to health disparities among different populations. The Profiles is a statistical resource on population health for different racial and ethnic populations in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands and was developed to provide readers with an easy-to-use collection of current state data on critical issues of relevance to population health.
